10 Things I learned from my weekend at the River!

Posted by on June 12, 2012

Isn’t it funny how when you take a weekend trip away or even when you go on vacation you come back more exhausted than before you even left?

I took the past 2 days off because I needed to recuperate 😉 It felt good, and I caught up on much needed sleep and rejuvenation!

But, I am back, and now I want to share with you 10 Things I learned from my Weekend Trip at the River

1) It is possible to fit 5 people’s luggage and gear into a small size car 😉 Including the people

2) Make sure there is enough GAS in your oven before trying to bake something!

I was asked to prepare lasagna for one of the weekend meals.  I put it together really fast, however, it sat in the oven for a hour, and we wondered why the cheese wasn’t melting.  We let it cook a bit longer by turning the temperature up before we realized the oven wasn’t working because there was no more gas 😉 WHOOPS

3) Water Currents at the River are much faster

Especially since it was the Colorado River.  It was also the weekend of the annual tube float, so the dam opened the floodgates on the current and made the water faster.  It also meant the importance of knowing how to swim and staying close to the shore by holding onto ropes and being tied up.

4) Affordable Breakfasts are the best!

I had an awesome Country Scramble (Biscuits covered with scramble eggs and gravy) and it only cost me 5 dollars! Love when a meal tastes that good and it’s affordable!

5) If a guy offers to buy you a drink, he has other intentions!

Hey, I don’t think I’ll turn down a free drink, but one thing I know for sure is knowing the importance of when to get out of there.  When one of my friends was asked, “do you want to bring the party back to our place?” That was our cue to get out, and fast.

6) Girls Like to Get Wild while away 😉

And by wild? I mean, by doing things together.  Check out our tattoos: we’re so bad.

7) The Wine Corkscrew at the Dollar Store really is only worth a dollar 😉

It opened the first bottle of wine, but by the second, it was broken.  We were very grateful to our older, wine loving neighbors!

8) The HEAT makes me cranky!

Out where we were near Lake Havasu, Arizona, the heat was in the 100’s, and being in it all day was tough.  By the end of the weekend I was ready to get back to the weather of LA, where it was much more tolerable and cooler 😉

9) Always make sure to have an EXTRA tube float around!

How many tubes got a hole this past weekend? 2!  Ouch.  So, always make sure you have an extra tube float around just in case the tube finds some wood or a sharp corner and gets a hole in it.

10) Burro’s are CUTE!

Where we were near Lake Havasu, Arizona, there are burro’s who are eating in the trees, and crossing the roads, and just hanging out.  And omg, they’re adorable!  Check these guys out:
