An Evening out with the LA Dodgers!

Posted by on August 2, 2012

The other night I was invited out to Dodgers Stadium to embrace baseball, completely Dodgers style.  What I mean by this is that the LA Dodgers came out with a program called, ‘LA Dodgers Digital Series.”  In this series they truly take the time to create a social media experience with a night to remember.  They connect you with like-minded individuals and interests or passions in the social media world. You are taken right behind home plate where you can watch batting practice by both teams, get your picture taken with a team member of the Dodgers, or at least chat with them, see who’s throwing the opening pitch, and talk with local fox sports newscasters.  We were even taken into the press box. Here is a complete recap of my night:

Along the walkway to our seats there was a ton of Dodger’s memorabilia to look at and admire.

How could we walk by this LA Dodgers Baseball cart without taking a picture.  My friends Mary and Erin did get a picture later on in the evening sitting in the cart.

This was in the stairwell as we walked towards Home Field.  I was pretty excited at this point.

We were brought to a little section behind home plate in which we could stand and watch the batting practice happen around us.  We were feet away from the Dodgers players.  That evening they were playing against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

LA Dodger “Andre Ethier” came over to talk with all of us LA Bloggers.  We talked a bit with him about the time he ran his own food blog, and where he ate the night before 😉

That evening happened to be “LA Galaxy” night.  13 of the players were there with their championship trophy.  We even got a picture surrounding the trophy and one lucky LA Blogger got to hold it.

And us holding the LA Galaxy Championship Cup.  The MLS Cup!

Jim Hill then came over and gave us some sound advice about work: “Go to bed late, go to work early, and work like H-E-double L.”  In other words, if others leave at 6pm, stay and work until 8pm.  If people start at 7am, head to work at 5am.  Work hard, it will be noticed.  It is your reputation that is the most important.

And of course, I had to get my picture taken next to the LA.  If you haven’t figured it out by now I <3 LA 😉

Curt Menefee was the person chosen to throw the “first pitch” that evening.  This was him practicing.  He even wore  his Dodger Jersey pride.

We were then taken up to our Digital Series suite.  Their suites are pretty incredible.

The view from atop.  Beautiful view too.

There is a dessert cart that goes around to all the sweets.  From caramel apples to amazing cakes to candy you have a lot of options.  But to my surprise as I was taking pictures I looked to my left and “Reese Witherspoon” was standing next to me.  Let me tell you she’s just as beautiful in person as seen on TV.  And she really is a sweetheart.  For my first A-List celebrity sighting, it just happened to be one of my favorites.

So A big THANK YOU goes to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a wonderful evening of baseball.  It was great to see all the work that goes behind the game from the social media to planning out the evening’s entertainment to the press room.  You are all needed and appreciated for the hard work you do.

The only bummer of the entire night was the Arizona Diamondbacks won that evening a big 7 to 2.  Go get them next time guys =)

Disclosure: The LA Dodgers provided me with a VIP experience at the Dodgers Game from behind home plate to meeting a few of the players to a ticket in a suite.  This story are my views of this experience.

Disclosure: All Pictures taken with the exclusion of Photo Credit of Ben Platt were taken by Minnesota Girl in LA.  Pictures are not to be utilized without permission.
