Book Tour: Primal by D.A Serra

Every now and again a book comes out that pulls you in and surprises you.  When you read the back cover you get one impression, but when you’re immersed into the book, you come out with a completely different one.

For me, this is what the book “Primal” has become.

Meet Allison Kraft.  A mother, a school teacher, who, for her son’s 9th birthday, has landed herself in the woods, in the exact place, she’d really not be.  But, as her cabin becomes a hostage zone, with her on the outside, with her loved ones on the inside, Allison becomes a woman no one ever thought she could become.

As  the quote in the beginning of the book says, “The most dangerous place in the world is between a mother and a child” becomes front and center in Primal.

But, after the situation is said and done, and everyone goes home.  Her husband and son continue on with their lives while Allison just can’t.  She knows he’s still out there, and she can’t rest because she knows he’s coming.  The question becomes, “Is he really out there or has Allison turned crazy?”  What will the outcome be?

D.A Serra does a great job in making the reader connect to the characters.  For me, considering this book took place in Northern Minnesota, I could picture everything as it happened, right as I was reading it.  D.A Serra paints a picture, and puts you in it as it’s happening, and once the action starts there’s no way you’re stopping until you get to the very end.

Now, what would you do in this situation?  The results may be surprising.   This is a great read, and one I thoroughly enjoyed, and James Cameron just purchased the screenplay.
