Summer Solstice Parties Happening Around LA!

Friday is the official Summer Solstice.  The longest day of the year, and of course, being in LA, they’re going to do it in style.  Check out some of these fun Summer Solstice Gatherings Happening around town this week:

1) Hammer Museum

Come out to the Hammer Museum in Westwood on Friday, June 21st from 8:30pm to 11pm for their official Summer Solstice DJ Party.  Admission will be free, and there will be a flat rate of 3 dollars for parking after 6pm underneath the museum.

2) Griffith Observatory

Head to the Griffith Observatory around Noon (12:55pm) and Sunset on Thursday, June 20th as they welcome in the summer solstice.  Because of daylight savings time, the sun will be at its highest point at 12:55pm on Thursday.

3)  Autry National  Center

From 6 to 8pm at the Autry National Center there will be a Summer Solstice Celebration.  Drum in the beginning of summer at the Autry! Learn the symbolic and cultural significance of drums in this multicultural, interactive presentation and workshop. Families will make their own drumming instrument and participate in the community drum circle as the sun sets and we welcome the summer solstice in Griffith Park.

4) Downtown Culver City Third Wednesdays

Kick off those long days of summer with Downtown Culver City.  From 5 to 9pm on Wednesday, June 19th the businesses and restaurants apart of Downtown Culver City offer a variety of deals and specials for you.

Stop by the Kirk Douglas Theater to enter win some summertime gifts, or Lundeen’s Gifts for your “passport.”  Not to mention their spiked lemonade tastings that will be taking place that evening.

5) The Whole 9 Art Gallery

On June 22nd from 6:30pm to 9:30pm come out and celebrate the sun at The Whole 9 Art Gallery.  Wine Tastings, Samples from LyfeKitchen, and of course, art along with music that will soak into your soul.

6) Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration

Kicking off on Friday, June 21st is the 3 day event.  Alameda Park.  The Festival includes a vibrant parade with beautiful floats adorning the park, food from local restaurants, a drum circle and loads of music.

Friday: 4 to 9pm

Saturday: Noon to 8pm

Sunday: Noon to 6pm

7) Summer Solstice Subaru Event

The 5th Annual Summer Solstice Subaru event is taking place on Sunday, June 23rd in San Pedro from 10am to 3pm.  This event is the largest Subaru Car Show event and brings in tons of spectators.  Admission is completely FREE.
