Malls have very much been a part of my life since I was a little girl, so when I first moved to SoCal, I had to find a local mall that was close to me and convenient.  That happened when I discovered Del Amo Fashion Center right in Torrance.  This mall has a little bit of everything, an outdoor area to shop through, fun eating establishments from RA Sushi, PF Chang, Stacked, Vegas Seafood Buffet to an indoor mall area that keeps going with some of our favorites: Old Navy, H&M, Cotton On, Disney Store, Express and more.

So, a few weeks earlier I stopped off at Del Amo Fashion Center to check out their latest Back to School Deals and Trends: Whether you’re heading Back to School or Back to College

2013 Back to School Trends include:

·      Fancy Footwear

·      Headpieces (flower headbands, caps, glittery pins, beanies)

·      Boots (textured, colorful, very high over the knee and very low ankle height)

·      Feminine silhouettes and details

·      Prints of all kinds (floral, stripes, tribal, plaid)

·      Denim (skinny, boyfriend, distressed, cropped, printed, high-waisted)

·      Bright, bold colors

·      Neon

·      Bold accessories: bangles, brooches, statement earrings

·      Military-style jackets

·      Blazers

Now lets see how the stores stacked up with some of their deals:

Cotton On Kids:  Had a variety of deals going from jeans being just 20 dollars to tees being 2 for 20.  And if you looked more closely you could find even better deals as you browsed throughout the store.

Old Navy also had a variety of great deals going on for Back To School including low priced jeans to an entire section dedicated to gym wear.  The store was nicely decorated for the back to school theme with lockers stacked above the clothes surrounded by soccer and basketballs. Old Navy also had a variety of graphic tees at reasonable prices.

Justice for Girls had some pretty adorable outfits for your young ones in the family.  They were all over the back to school trends focusing upon plaid, bright colors, fun graphic tees, and more.  They also were well stocked in backpacks and fun accessories for backpacks and lockers.

Boots are also very popular this Back to School Season and Justice for Girls had an entire wall dedicated to shoes including boots.

The Children’s Place is also located within Del Amo Fashion Center and they had a lot of great Back to School trends covered in their store from fun graphic tees to reasonably priced jeans to the latest trend: “jeggings.”

A variety of stores around the mall had a variety of Backpack options to choose from.  A favorite stop for me to look at that day was none other than “Aahs.”  They had every cartoon character you could think of from Hello Kitty, The Smurfs, Bowser, Minnie Mouse to Spiderman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Hello Kitty was definitely a huge trend in backpacks this year, and if you’re an avid fan, make sure to stop in to the SanRio store for some great options, but also back to school gear from notebooks to lunch boxes to pencils to bring with you all in Hello Kitty designs.

Any fans of Spiderman or Captain America in your house?  If so, check out these fun shoes at Stride Rite:

This year the shoes are all about the bright colors.   Fun, bold, neon colors, that is.  And it was shown throughout all of the shoe stores.  These were some of my favorites from Skechers:
