2015: Word of the Year

Posted by on January 1, 2015

I’m going to be honest.  I struggled with picking a word this year.  When I first sat down to think about my word of the year, I put (Be) Genuine.  Guess what folks?  That’s the exact word I chose last year.

I don’t take it as a bad thing, it just means that I’m still working on that word.  Although I can’t choose it for a second year in a row, I do know that it will continue to be something I strive towards in 2015.

So what did I choose for my word this year?  I thought about “Prioritize” to help me keep what’s important in mind, but that’s also something I’ve already been striving towards, and it’s made a difference in the relationships around me, in my work, and other facets of my life, but it just wasn’t what I wanted to pick.  I could pick the word “Adventure” but truthfully I already live it so…… that leaves what?

2015 Word of the Year

There it is folks.  Passion.

This word has many meanings for me.  And many things I can relate this word to.  I hope in this year to align my passion with all things I do in life.  Keep the passion through my work, through my creative outlets, and through my travels.

Because, lets be honest, if we are not showing passion for what we are doing in life, honestly, what are we doing?

This word helps to keep me in check.  For when blogging projects come my way the first question I’ll ask is whether I’m passionate about it or not.  If I am, it’s a win.  If not, it’s time to say no and move ahead.

Passion for my creative outlets whether it’s writing, taking photos, or art projects I may work on in 2015.  If I’m not passionate about what I’m doing it’ll be okay to take a break, to re-energize myself, until I find that passion again.

And passion for the work I do.  Keeps you in check for the work you are doing, and what you are working towards.  If the passion truly isn’t there, it’s time to think about where you should be putting that energy towards.

So, have you chosen your word of the year?  Share it below!
