Debuting this evening, Friday, June 13th, the historic San Antonio San Fernando Cathedral will have a new video art installation.  This installation will depict the culture, people and settlement of San Antonio in a beautiful display.

The installation created by renowned French Artist, Xavier de Richemont will narrate the historical discovery, settlement and development of San Antonio. Now the seventh-largest city in the nation, San Antonio is a pivotal location in the story and identity of the United States and North America.

This 23-minute journey will be renowned painter and video artist Xavier de Richemont’s first outdoor video art installation in the United States. His public installations can be seen in France, Germany, Spain, Morocco, Mexico, Canada, and soon, Main Plaza.

Interesting facts:

   San Antonio|The Saga” will be a 7,000-sq.-ft. projection with custom choreographed music on the façade of San Fernando Cathedral.

·        Built between 1738 and 1755, San Fernando is the oldest cathedral sanctuary in the U.S. and the official heart of San Antonio with its historic plaza.

·        The installation will depict the historical discovery, settlement and development of San Antonio.

·        Now the seventh-largest city in the nation, San Antonio is a pivotal location in the story and identity of the United States and North America.

After debuting on June 13, we will have this installation for the next 10 years showing every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 9:00p, 9:30p and 10:00p.

Originally built between 1738 and 1755, San Fernando Cathedral is the oldest operating sanctuary in North America. It sits in Main Plaza, the heart of historic San Antonio. Main Plaza is the ideal location for this story to be told as it is one of only four colonial plazas left in the United States, and the only one with a cathedral.
