We’re in tough times right now. The economy has not grown in the last few years. Some economists have stated, “we’re in a depression.” The cost of living is going up for many Americans. I have heard from some friends that they are the head of the household, and now they are taking care of their parents.
Benefits are being cut for people, yet the new jobs are still no where in sight.
It leads me to ask, what is the future of the youth? This is no longer a vision of a pretty retirement, nor is it a vision of good times ahead. There is fear for the future. Where is that money we’re paying into a pension going to go? What happens when the baby boomers retire, and resources that were so vividly affluent diminish.
That’s why it is nice to see Americans coming together to fight for what they believe in. #OccupyLA and #OccupyWallStreet started their major protest this week, and it’s continuing to grow. Americans are coming together, and this is going to be huge.
This is a reminder to me on what America is about. We have the freedom of speech, and the right to be heard. We work better as a community, and we work better when we fight together.
For so long I was giving up hope on Americans, and what was truly important to them. I was growing frustrated, discouraged, but seeing this movement happen has lifted me. The American Passion is still there. I’m hoping this will be the start of people truly mobilizing together for our future.
Remember though, this is to be done peacefully.
