It just hit me today how truly important that first impression is with anyone you meet. But for a shy girl, how can you SELL yourself?
It really comes down to putting a lot of effort in. I recognize I am shy, and I get anxiety from social interactions, and I realize it is a honest conscience effort for me. But, it can be done!
For starters, be comfortable in your own skin. Know you’re strengths, know your weaknesses, and then let them be known! If you’re kind and good hearted, show it to people. If you’re funny, let your humor shine. If you’re reflective, take your time before answering those questions. The key really comes down to being yourself.
Anxiety pushes a lot of us outside our comfort zones. For those that like to be in control, getting into a social situation that you have no control over puts you outside your comfort zone. It truly comes down to HOW you learn to deal with those situations.
I recognize I am a quiet and observant person, and over time, my observation skills have come in handy. That mixed with my amazing memory makes for good use, however, it might surprise people too 😉 Hopefully I don’t come off to stalkerish 😉
But, really, what makes a shy girl come out of their shell? For me, it’s all about my comfort level. If I am not comfortable in a situation, I freeze, I tense up, and I barely say a thing.
So, I just want to ask all of you, what do you do to get over that FREEZE point? How do you get past that? That’s what I’m working on, and realizing I need to get over it before I can become the woman I envision in my head. Or, another question to ask is, what can you do to make yourself feel comfortable in ANY situation that comes your way?
