How is LA different from Minnesota?

Posted by on November 5, 2011

When people hear I’m from MN, they always say, “wow, this is quite the change for you?” Well yes, in fact, the climate is a lot nicer, but that’s exactly one of the reason’s I left Minnesota.  I couldn’t handle the cold winters.  Then again, now that I’m in LA, there are things I miss especially the changing colors of the leaves on the trees during the fall, and pretty much the entire month of September.  So I thought I’d answer how LA different from Minnesota.

However, now that I’m in California, what are the things I truly appreciate?  The creative energy around this town.  The fact is, everyone has a passion, and everyone is working towards their dream.  You see a lot more free spirits, the arts are out there a lot more, especially with their art walks, and from the movie scenes to the Hollywood scene to the entrepeneur scene, people are more willing to go after their dreams and what they believe in.

Sure, the traffic is a pain, but guess what? Minnesota, especially the Twin Cities has traffic too.  If you were to mention the 494 in Bloomington, I bet the majority of people would grown.  If you were to mention taking 35W into Downtown Minneapolis during Rush Hour, more growns would be heard.

There’s just more cars in LA, but traffic is in the Twin Cities too, and there’s just lesser lanes.

The thing is, a city is a city no matter where you are in a world, it’s truly the people that make the difference.

The thing I love about LA is the absolute melting pot this city is.  A variety of cultures have come together, and there is a festival to celebrate all the cultures of this city.  But with the different cultures means different opportunities to learn and to celebrate their traditions.  I absolutely love it.

LA is a beautiful place filled with a ton of opportunities, but what it comes down to is the fact that people are more apt to follow their dreams out here compared to Minnesota.

I can’t wait to visit back home at the end of December.  I miss certain parts, and even then I’ll think the snow is beautiful, but I know when I’m home, I”ll be excited to come back to LA to experience the next opportunity that may come my way.
