What kind of TRAVELER are YOU?

Posted by on January 30, 2012

In the last month I have been fortunate to attend 2 travel shows within the Los Angeles area.  Although they were very similar, they were very distinct too.

The Long BEACH Travel and Adventure show had a variety for regional travelers and also international travelers.  I got to listen to Andrew Zimmern from Bizarre Foods speak, and grab as many brochures and travel guides as I could about California and the surrounding regions.

The LA Times Travel Show truly specialized in International Travel, and this is where  I learned what kind of traveler I truly wanted to be.  I got to hear Adam Richman from Man V. Food speak, and learned pretty fast that I’ve found a new celebrity crush for myself 😉

I realized that my desires to travel are to keep it in the United States.  There are 50 states.  That is a lot of ground to travel with a plethora of cities to travel to which all offer something.

It’s funny because when I was younger, alls I wanted to do was international travel.  I wanted to go to London, England.  I wanted to visit Barcelona, Spain.  And it was my dream to visit Paris, France.   Paris is still on my list, but my desire to go outside of the US has really faded.

But I realize I’m in a select few.  A lot of people do want to travel internationally.  Perhaps it’s because I had my International Travel experience when I was young when I took a 3 week journey to Australia and New Zealand, or perhaps it was because I realized the true beauty that could be found in all 50 states, but my one goal in life is to visit all 50.  I’ve only hit 22 thus far 😉

There are also those that travel to taste the food, those that travel to visit the stadiums and those that travel to see as much as they can wherever they happen to go.

I am one of the latter.  When I go to a place I try to take in as much as I can because I just don’t know if I”ll ever get back to that place again.  I don’t think much about the food, which, I realize now, I need to start thinking about it and appreciating it more than I do.

So, that leads me this question, what kind of traveler are you?
