It’s my SITS Day, It’s my SITS Day!!

Posted by on July 10, 2012

Hello Beautiful SITsahs!

My name is Jamie and I want to welcome ALL of you to my beautiful home, “Minnesota Girl in LA.”  Yes, you guessed it.  I am a Minnesota Girl at heart, born and raised until a little over a year and a half ago when I moved out to Los Angeles.  Like the title of my tagline?  As I drive along the freeways during the day I often wonder, “Oh No, What did I do?”

Me in my new Sunhat! yay

The truth is I’ve completely embraced LA and the beauty that surrounds me.  The Ocean, The Amazing Opportunities, and yes, even the People!

For those that don’t know, today is my featured SITS Day!  I’ve been looking forward to this day for a long, long time.  I’ve debated all day what I should write about to introduce all of you to my blog, yet, here I sit, blank.  ;)

For those that don’t know The SITS Girls is a community of over 40,000 women bloggers who come together to comment and support one another through blogging.  There are a variety of discussion forums, opportunities for bloggers to get to know one another, and they host a wonderful Blogging Conference called “Bloggy Boot Camp” that goes all over the United States.  They are an incredible organization and community that I am so very happy to be apart of.

What is “Minnesota Girl in LA” all about?  Well, it’s my outlet to talk about all the things I love.  On Mondays I usually give tips on photography.  Although,  I am far from being a professional, I am an avid hobbyist, and like to share the knowledge I have learned throughout my journey.  Pictures are shown throughout my blog.

Tuesdays I usually like to share a little piece of me into the mix so my readers have the opportunity to get to know me better! On Wednesdays I like to discuss anything related to travel.  In the beginning I’d discuss some of my favorite places to travel to, but as of late, I’ve been more Los Angeles focus.

Golden Gate Bridge

On Thursdays, I’ve left it pretty open, but in the future, I want to attempt my first link up.  Of course, things aren’t quite finalized yet on that end.

And on Fridays, this is where I like to do any reviews or product giveaways with brands I work with.  I like to think of Fridays as a fun day, so that’s why I love bringing fun giveaways to the blog.

I’ve been known to share a few recipes, talk about art, and of course, my all time favorite wine.   I’m a mix of everything, most likely why I throw myself into the mix of “lifestyle” blogger.  But, please share some love by liking my facebook page, I made it easy to connect via my blog on the right hand side.

And if you’re into photography, or would like to learn a bit more on how to utilize your camera, and the terms, click on my photography tab for a lot of great information.

I hope you enjoy your visit =)

Happy SITS day!! You seem to have a great schedule planned for your blog!! I can’t seem to stick to a schedule on mine, I just try to post a few times a week. I know what it feels like to move to a new place, I’m a California girl in NYC! I’ve never been to Minnesota, but my boyfriend is from there. He’s now living in NYC & sometimes people ask him if he’s from Canada (apparently he has an accent, I don’t hear it though). I love photography too, I’m going to go check out more of your blog!

  45. Christina Morley

Hi Jamie! I just left a comment for you on SITS. I realize now that the total of comments, which were over 200, probably included your replies. I’m still impressed, because you replied to everyone!

I Tweeted your post on Know Your Summer Fruit, great tips! And, I’ve liked your FB page.

I’m living in South Africa, so I’m not pushing any giveaways. I blog because I love writing and communicating. I also have a photography blog and I don’t have a cool camera and I’m no expert, but I try to help other people with tips and advice… and just have fun. I think your photography skills are better than some professionals and I’m looking forward to seeing more. :)

Besides having an interest in photography, I’m also thinking of hosting my first link-up soon. Will you be using Linky Tools? And, I’ve been talking to my family for a couple of weeks now about possibly moving to LA. That might sound crazy, but maybe you’d understand. (I and my kids are American, only hubby isn’t.)

We live in wine country outside of Cape Town. South African wines are wonderful and usually very well priced. I find even the cheap ones can be of excellent quality. So, when you want to save a few dollars, go try an inexpensive S.A. wine.

    Take care!

I loved reading your comment. You truly put a lot of thought into it, and I’d love to learn more about you. It seems we may have a bit in common! I would love to hear stories about South Africa, and the town you reside in. And about your life over there.

I will have to try a South Africa wine sometime, do you have any recommendations?

And the entire reason I started my blog was after I talked to a content manager, and asked him how he got his job. He simply said, “I had my own blog.” And that’s when it all clicked for me. In order for me to sell myself, I need a portfolio, and one place to send people so they get an idea of my writing. =) It’s helped tremendously.

Giveaways are fun, but I don’t want that to be the only thing I provide on my blog because it’s truly about the stories, and sharing that connect you to others more than anything. =)

      Lets keep in contact!

      • Christina Morley

Hi Jamie! Thanks for the fantastic reply! I hope you got my reply to your comment on Reading Time on my parenting blog. So, blogging has opened doors for you? That’s what we’re hoping for – my hubby and I. We have the content, we just need the readers. :) Hosting a blog hop will generate traffic, so I’m looking into it. I know you also mentioned thinking of doing one.

Some quality wines at affordable prices from our region are: Backsberg Wines, Fairview Wines, Spier, Robertson Winery and there are just tons more, but I think you’ll be able to find these labels. We like red wine and Shiraz in particular, but these estates and co-ops have a good range, but Robertson’s wines are maybe not as good as the others I mentioned.

I’ll eventually post more pics of S.A. on my photography blog 1camera1mom at

        Take care!

  46. OneMommy

Happy SITS day a few days late! :) Yes, I love your tag line… I can imagine that was a HUGE change!
    You have some beautiful pictures!

    • Jamie

Thanks OneMommy! =) I had no idea what to do for a tagline when I first started, but this one’s stuck and it makes me laugh whenever I see it now.

Congrats on your SITS day! I was on vacation so am checking in a bit late. :). I am also a mn girl, but in Scotland right now. Can’t wait to follow along and hear all about your LA adventures.

    • Jamie

Hi Jen, and thank you for stopping by. I was just on vacation myself last week. I hope you feel relaxed and rejuvenated!
