Going Caffeine Free!

Posted by on October 19, 2012

Around the end of September I was struggling with the idea of me going caffeine free.  I had tried it in the past, but I’d always go back to it.  It was the easy method.  It was out of convenience.

However, the past few months I was really noticing how caffeine was affecting me.  It was keeping me up at night.  I’m a night owl, but the caffeine did not help in the process.  Nights when I was tired but had caffeine in my system I’d stay up until 1 or 2am.  Having to wake up the next morning for work was always a battle.  I knew I had to stop this bad habit.

But also, I knew how drinking soda with caffeine in it was really beginning to affect my health.  Drinking a certain kind of soda was affecting the ulcer I had gained in my body, and there were some pretty rough nights.  Since I cut that one soda out of my system the ulcers have stopped acting up.

So, as of October 1st, I decided to start my caffeine cleanse.  And this time around, I was quitting cold turkey.  I’ve learned, going cold turkey, is the only way to get it completely out of my system.  When I announced this to the world a lot of people came to me in support saying “you can do it.”  “I did that and it was the best thing ever.”

And that’s when I went to ACTIVATE Drinking Water.  I asked them if they would help sponsor me in this process, so they sent me a few samples over of their water:

They sent me over Grape, Orange, Exotic Berry, Lemon Lime, and Fruit Punch.  What’s great about Activate is that in the top part there are vitamins, which are kept separate from the water.  When you’re ready to drink your water, by turning the cap left those vitamins will release into the water.  You then shake up the bottle, then open up and enjoy your beverage.

It’s refreshing.  The hardest part for me when giving up soda and caffeine is I miss the flavor.  Drinking straight water doesn’t have that flavor to me, so I grow bored FAST and EASY.  Activate helps take that away from me.

But the best part of drinking Activate with their vitamins being added in is that I honestly noticed a boost of energy in my system afterwards.  And this energy that was coming was completely healthy for me.

The first time I experienced Activate the hardest part for me was figuring out how to open the bottle, but once someone explained it to me, it’s been a pretty easy process.  To release the vitamins you turn left, to open the bottle of water you turn right.

Have you tried Activate, and what are your thoughts?

Right now, I’m more than halfway through my Caffeine Free Cleanse.  This even included a trip to Las Vegas where I had little sleep in the process.  Although this week was pretty brutal to get through as I was lacking energy and feeling very drained I stayed true to my cleanse.  I have my good days and my bad, but I’ve already noticed a difference in my body, and that difference is enough to keep me going.

And the best part of all of this is that I’m beginning to drink more water, another huge reason why I wanted to do this.

Disclosure: ACTIVATE Water provided me with Samples of their products to try out as I underwent my Caffeine Free cleanse.  I have purchased bottles on my own during this process, and would recommend their drinks to anyone.

Jamie, you are brave! I don’t know if I could cull caffeine- but maybe I’ll get some of that water and give it a try! :)

it’s hard, but realizing how it was really beginning to affect me I had to give it up. My body is feeling so much better because of it already, with just 2 and 1/2 weeks in!

I never drink coffee so I didn’t have that addiction but, I did love some Pepsi and other sodas. I gave up soda/pop about 11 years ago and I avoid any of those energy drinks. I gave up the soda because when I was experiencing breast problems my doctor mentioned that caffeine can cause certain problems. That was all I need to hear. Juice and water are what I will stick with.
