In our day in age, it’s easy to take for granted all that has been given to us, but as a woman, looking back, we didn’t always have it so easy. As soon as I turned 18, I couldn’t wait to VOTE, but, for so many, to vote, was something, that so many before us, fought hard for. Something that women gave their lives, homes, and even children for.
Every November, when the elections come, I think long and hard about ALL that was done to pave our path so WE could vote, but so many women, of our past, didn’t have that right.
Dorothea Dix did not have that right nor did Harriet Tubman:
BUT these are women that were so important to our History. These women helped pave our paths.
With the release of Suffragette, it’s also a good reminder of these hard fights, of everything that has been fought for, but, to me, it’s also a good reminder as to WHY we need to continue fighting. WHY these issues still remain important, and it’s a RIGHT that is, indeed, worth fighting for.

Suffragette is a movie that brings this FIGHT to the modern age, a film, that gives an inside look to the lives of women back then, BEFORE, women could VOTE. A right that we did not always have. It was because of these women that WE now have that right.
As the United States is beginning to decide which aspiring US Woman should go on the 10 Dollar Bill in the year 2020, I look back at some of the women I’ve looked up to in history:
Susan B. Anthony
Rosa Parks
Eleanor Roosevelt
Michelle Obama
Abigail Adams
Louisa May Alcott
Emily Dickinson
Amelia Earhart
Helen Keller
Sandra Day O’Connor
Margaret Sanger
Sojourner Truth
and so many others that have played such an important role in our United States History. I have no idea HOW they’re going to decide on who they’ll put on the 10 Dollar Bill, let me know who you’d love to see on it.
