Ferrari-Carano Winery!

Do you ever go to a restaurant, try out a wine, and realize, right then and there how much you love it?  I had this experience with Ferrari-Carano Fume Blanc Sauvignon Blanc wine.  I’ve also realized how important it is to keep track of the wines I try out at various restaurants I go to.

Needless to say, Ferrari-Carano Winery was on my list of wineries to visit when I first arrived here.  And boy, it was completely worth it:

Just know, it is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the tasting room, although the sidewalk is one flat path so very wheelchair accessible.

Another thing I really loved about visiting this winery was their garden area.  Enclosed between two gates.  I’ve nicknamed it “The Secret Garden.”

Further along your way you run into a statue that will bring a few smiles to your face:

And then you arrive at the tasting room.  The building is absolutely stunning.  The winery located in the Dry Creek Valley region is surrounded by their beautiful vineyards.  It’s quite the site to see during the fall.  Once inside the tasting room, you will see the wide windows that look out into the vineyards.  Trust me, for that view alone, it’s completely worth it.

See what I mean?  But then you look out into the vineyards and it leaves you with an even more stunning view:

Once inside the building you have two options for tastings.  The upstairs level, which is just 5 dollars where you can taste my favorite Fume Blanc whine, the Chardonnay and a few other varieties shown below: (You have 4 tastings and you choose the wine)

Or you could go down the stairs a level to take in a view of their cellar room and partake in a tasting in their reserve room.  This tasting costs 15 dollars for 4 tastings.  Refunded with the purchase of a 80 dollar wine.

This is definitely one of my favorite wineries I have seen thus far, and also received the 2013 Reader’s Choice Award from The Press Democrat, a popular news publication in the area.

So make sure to put it on your list the next time you plan a trip to the Sonoma County area.

Last Minute Fall Decor Ideas!

So, I don’t get crafty too often, but wanted to walk thru Michael’s to get some inspiration.  Fall has easily become one of my favorite times of the year.  One good thing about being a last minute decorator are extraordinary deals.  When we first walked into Michael’s we noticed a huge display of their fall fake flowers, and inspiration instantly hit.  We began to pick out our fall decor.

Fall Flowers

And the best part about all the fall decor flowers?  They were 70% off.  After walking through Michael’s we also soon discovered these adorable Pumpkin Baskets that were 50% off:

Pumpkin Baskets

And, lo and behold, our project has come together.  Get the baskets ready, grab your flowers, and begin putting your floral design skills together.  My SO even helped me, and let me tell you, he has an eye for Floral design.  After you’re done, you decide where they can go:

Fall Flower Baksets

We created 4 baskets altogether and came to about 60 dollars.  The best part about these are that they can last through the end of November.

Another great idea if you love the smell of real flowers is to grab your Halloween Trick or Treat basket, fill it up with water, and place your favorite bouquets in it for an easy to do fall decor for your home:

Have you decorated for the fall?  What’s inside your home?
