What to GET that WINO in your life?!?!?!?! Wine Gifts

With my love of wine I’ve been looking at gifts on the internet, and just want to share some of my finds.  One, this helps me create a holiday wish list, and Two, it will help you in shopping for that fun loving WINO in your life.  And Three; my SO does read my blog on occasion, and he said this LIST would help him with his shopping 😉

So. Great Wine Gifts:

1) Pier One Imports- Frog Wine Rack

A few weeks ago my SO and I stopped into Pier One Imports and I ran across this beaut.  I haven’t been able to  stop thinking about it since:

I love wine racks, and I have been looking to get myself one.  But this just adds a new level of fun too them.  Think of an animal, perhaps one of your favorite. Perhaps there’s a wine rack with your name on it out there.

2) Wine Mercer’s Ice Cream

This company based in Upstate New York has created a wine ice cream, and wow, I want to try it out.  Flavors come in: Cherry Merlot, Chocolate Cabernet, Peach White Zinfandel, Port, Red Raspberry Chardonnay and Riesling.

3) The Rabbit

I took to my facebook page asking my fans what wine accessories they love.  Lots of people came back with the response of the “The Rabbit.”  A GREAT wine opener that makes opening those wine bottles super easy.

Since I first discovered this fun invention last year it’s been on my list of “wants.”  Chill it in the freezer, then when you open your bottle of white, put it in to keep the bottle out and to  the temperature you want.  PERFECT for gatherings.

5) Wine Appetizer Plates

Whenever you have wine, it’s nice to have a little something something to go with it, so when I discovered these fun appetizer plates that fit right over your wine glass.  I thought, “wow, that is a GREAT investment!”

6) Owl Cork Holder ~ Cork Holders, in General

My big thing I’ve been looking at this year has been to find something to keep all of my wine corks in.  I eventually want to make something out of it which leads to my  next gift ideas 😉 So when I found this Owl Cork Holder, this was the one I wanted.

They have cork holders in every possible shape.  I’ve seen snowman, the Eiffel Tower, Houses, and more.

7) Wine Pens

 

We’ve all seen those Decorative Wine Glasses where people have drawn on the glasses.  So, for a gift idea, why don’t you purchase a pack of wine glasses with these pens, and the WINO can let their inner artist shine.  Or, if you’re an artist yourself, grab these pens and design your own wine glasses for the fun loving WINO.

8) The Wine AERATOR

I can attest that I do not own one,  but I can attest that others have RAVED about this, and I do want one for myself.  I want to taste the difference after using one. Wine Enthusiast has a GREAT sight showcasing some of the best aerators around.  I personally like the Red and Wine set.

9) Do it YOURSELF Cork Sets

So, a question a lot of WINOS ask is what to do with their old wine corks.  For some, they save them.  For others, they get creative.  So when I found this wine trivet set, I had to share.

But be sure to stop by The Wineabe and check out how her mom put together a wine lazy susan together.  It’s pretty neat to see it in action.

10) Wine Toppers

And the last gift idea I’m going to leave you with is to shop all those amazing wine toppers available out there.  Know who you’re shopping for and their interests, and pick up a beautiful topper.  Trust me, it’s so nice to pop that in over the wine bottle after opening.

Decorate it Forward with #Kmart #spon

I don’t remember the last time I set foot into a Kmart, but when Smiley360 asked me to go check out a Kmart for their holiday traditions I decided, “okay.”  Lets see what they have to offer.  Time to Decorate it Forward.

When I first set foot into Kmart, I headed over to the Holiday Section, and had a blast taking photos:

These holiday people really grabbed my attention and made for a fun picture.  Of course, I found the one that had Thanksgiving spirit.

Kmart also had a variety of ornaments geared towards the NFL so if you had a favorite team of the San Francisco 49ers or Oakland Raiders or San Diego Chargers you could easily make a tree out of these ornaments.

They also had an entire wall dedicated to Ornaments designed by Sandra Lee.  Sandra Lee was throughout the entire store in their baking aisles, in their holiday section, throughout the store.

I also really enjoyed walking throughout the store to see the deals.  Kmart has really reasonable prices.  I was drawn to their gift sets near the front of the store.  Gift sets from Hickory Farms, your own S’More Maker to Hot Cocoa sets.  These kind of gifts are my favorite.

One Moment in Time by Glenn Snyder Interview and Giveaway Ends 12/03/2012

You may have read my review of “One Moment in Time” on Friday, and now my readers have a chance to get know the man behind the book a little bit closer with a chance to win a copy of your own:

Where did you find your inspiration for writing “One Moment in Time?”

The idea for One Moment in Time actually came to me from a dream. It was one of those dreams where you remembered every detail long after you were awake. That dream gave me the premise for the twist as well as the general structure of the story. The rest of the story was inspired by research. I travelled to Italy, Mexico, Pacific Grove, and Sonoma. Physically being there allowed me to see the world through Jack’s eyes and experience the sights, sounds, and smells that Jack would experience. I hope the authenticity of Jack’s experiences came through to the readers.

Your main character “Jack,” does he remind you of anyone in your real life?

I didn’t write Jack with anyone in mind, but I have been told by my friends and family that certain aspects of Jack are similar to me. I guess when you’re writing your first novel, it’s hard to escape putting a little of yourself into your characters. With that said, I think the only real connection between me and Jack was his career in finance and his quirky sense of humor. Is there one message/theme you’re trying to bring awareness to in your book “One Moment in Time?” The one theme that I hope everyone can take away from One Moment in Time is the idea that anyone can have a huge impact on the world, and all we have to do is try. I believe that every day, each of us has opportunities to do something that has an impact on those around us and our community. However, it’s up to us to take advantage and act on those opportunities. Jack is an example of what can happen if you take advantage of opportunities rather than letting them pass you by.

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?

I actually have two pieces of advice… (1) Never give up, and (2) Don’t take any shortcuts.

The first is really about determination and perseverance. If you want to write, then write. If it’s just a page a day or a page a month, don’t let anything or anyone discourage you from what you want to do.

The second is advice that I received when I started writing. There’s a lot of personal excitement and impatience when it comes to having your words published. But you have to remember, once it’s out there, it’s out there. So make sure that everything is buttoned up. I would recommend hiring a professional editor, someone you don’t know who would take a truly objective approach at your book. If you publish too many errors, your reputation can be hurt before you can establish anything else.

What would you say is the hardest part about writing a book?

Writing a book is not easy. It’s a tough and long commitment. For me, the first struggle was finding the time to write. With a full-time career, it took me 2 ½ years to finish my first draft. My second struggle was recognizing that a first draft is just that, and I went through three more drafts until my book was finally ready. It was really hard to accept that once I finished the first draft, I had to go back and write it all over again, and again, and again. Finally (and this is where I am today), the marketing. I’m a finance geek by day, and it’s very difficult for me to market the book. It’s very expensive to hire a full-time publicist, especially when there are no guaranteed results, so marketing is all about exposure. That’s a good roundup of questions, so I will leave this last one open ended, is there anything you’d like to add that I may have missed?
