What to DO in Anaheim, CA?

Anaheim, California has easily become one of my favorite cities within Orange County, and with Disneyland being at the centerfold of Anaheim, it has become a top tourist destination within the world.

Here’s a list of things to do in and around Anaheim, CA:

Medieval Times and Dinner ~Buena Park:

Medieval Times

Right next door to Anaheim is the city of Buena Park with a variety of activities for the entire family.  One such activity is spending an evening at Medieval Times and Dinner.  This one of a kind show takes you back to the Renaissance Days where Knights duke it out right in front of you.  Cheer on for your knight as you eat dinner while enjoying the show.

Angels Stadium:

Are you one of those on the baseball stadium tour? Angels Stadium

Anaheim Gardenwalk:

A fan of shopping?  Be sure to spend an afternoon or evening at the Anaheim Gardenwalk.  This fun venue has a variety of shops and restaurants for you to partake in.  Often a very popular place to partake in after a long day at the Anaheim Convention Center, which just happens to be across the street.  Grab a meal at McCormick and Schmick’s, California Pizza Kitchen or Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and many more.

Taste-of-Anaheim-

Or spend an evening at the movies or out bowling.  The Gardenwalk has a bit of everything including their annual Taste of Anaheim where they bring in the top restaurants around the Anaheim area for a night of tastes and treats.  Taking place May 2014.

Knott’s Berry Farm:

Right next door in Buena Park is another fun amusement park at Knott’s Berry Farm.  The very first theme park in the nation.  Come on in and indulge with those fun loving Peanut Characters and get a taste of Mrs. Knott’s Chicken before the days end.

Last Call Neiman Marcus

Catch a Show at the Honda Center:

Honda Center Circus

The Honda Center is a great concert and show venue within the Anaheim Area.  When traveling check in on the Honda Center to see if any shows will be happening while you’re in town.  From Circuses to Concerts to Monster Trucks they always have something going on.

Downtown Disney:

And last but not least, spend sometime at Downtown Disney.  Whether you spend a little time dining at one of their restaurants: House of Blues, Catal Restaurant, Earl of Sandwich, ESPN Zone, Rainforest Cafe and more, or if you want to shop a little and find the perfect Disney souvenir to bring home with you, spend a few hours and enjoy the magic in front of you.

Have you been to Anaheim, CA? If so, what are your favorite things to do in the area?

Thin Mint Ice Box Cake!

Disclosure: Post may include affiliate links.

That’s right.  Ice Cream, Thin Mints, and Hot Fudge combined in one delicious recipe.  The best part? It only takes about 10 minutes to make, if even, but a good 3 hours to freeze, if not, overnight.

I personally love Girl Scout Cookies, but when I saw fellow friend Jill from Sandy Toes and Popsicles create these delicious cheesecakes out of Girl Scout Cookies, my mind instantly went to Thin Mints and wondered what I could create.  This, my folks, was the answer.

Ice Box Cake

See that deliciousness?   I loved EVERY bite and you will too.  This is a great recipe just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, or for a special treat during those hot summer days. I loved using these foil pans so I could easily throw out the pan when we demolished our ice cream cake. These Party & Catering Supplies – Jiffy-Foil Casserole Pans with Lids, 11¾x9⅜” (Set of 2) are the perfect ones.

Recipe Creation: Pixie Tangerine Rice Pudding

Disclosure: I received Ojai Pixie Tangerines from Melissa’s Produce on behalf of this recipe.

As promised, another recipe created on behalf of the yummy Ojai Pixie Tangerines I received from Melissa’s Produce.

This time, my mind had the recipe created in my mind before I even attempted it.  Pixie Tangerine Rice Pudding.  Want in on a secret? I never attempted rice pudding before, so when I saw this recipe on All Recipes, I knew it was a go.  Recipe has been adapted from there.

Rice Pudding

Doesn’t it look good?  And if you’ve never made rice pudding before, let me tell you, it’s so easy, and worth the effort you put into it.

Recipe Creation: Pixie Tangerine Rice Pudding

Prep time

Serves: 4
Ingredients
  • 1 Pixie Tangerine
  • 1½ Cup Rice
  • 1½ Cups Water
  • 2 Cups Milk (1½ cups then ½ cup)
  • 1 Egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Ground Cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Boil 1½ cups Water in a medium size pot. After boiling, add in 1½ cups rice. Turn heat down to low and simmer for 20 minutes.
  2. In another medium saucepan, combine 1½ cups milk with the rice. Place on medium heat. When Creamy, in about 15 to 20 minutes, it'll be done.
  3. Add in 1 Egg, ½ cup milk and 1 pixie tangerine sliced up to the rice mixture. Heat for another 2 minutes.
  4. When done, stir in ½ tsp. vanilla extract. Place in bowls then top with tangerine slices and ground cinnamon.

And voila, there you go.  Another fun recipe you can create with Ojai Pixie Tangerines, that is, if you have any left over after eating them.  The Citrus adds a nice blend to the creamy rice pudding giving it a little more sweetness to the mixture.
